Dhaka: Indian Visa Application Centres in Bangladesh’s major cities have begun offering limited appointment slots for Bangladeshi nationals requiring urgent medical and student visas. The services are being offered in Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Khulna.
"Additionally, These Centres Have Also Opened Limited Slots For Urgent Cases Where Bangladeshi Students And Workers Must Travel To Third Countries And Have Visa Appointments With Foreign Embassies In India," According To A Statement From The Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) In Bangladesh.
"These Services Will Continue To Be Limited Until IVAC Fully Resumes Its Standard Operations, The Statement Added.
In Early August, The Indian Visa Centre In Dhaka Suspended Operations Due To The Instability Caused By Weeks Of Violent Protests, Which Led To The Ousting Of Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina And The Establishment Of An Interim Government. On August 12, The Centre Partially Resumed Its Services, Offering Limited Appointments.
Bangladesh Had Been Engulfed In Massive Protests Against The Government's Controversial Job Quota System, Starting In Mid-July And Eventually Toppling The Sheikh Hasina-Led Government On August 5. Over 600 Deaths Were Reported In The Aftermath Of The Protests.
